Greetings Everyone! I hope that you all are well! I am new to the community but have had a personal goal of building a container home for the last year. What is the first step: 1. Acquiring land? Or, 2. Finding land?
I honestly don't know where to begin. I sort of have in mind what I want, and how much I want to spend. I intend to build somewhere in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and have reached out to the designers/architects of PV14 house but they never replied. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Hello and thanks for the add to the group. I have been looking at these various types of builds for over 4yrs now. My motivation is to be mortgage free and with as little utilities as possible in a home that suits ALL of my needs.
I have planned designed re-designed added more containers and just added a pool container to the design LOL. Up here in Ontario Canada I know of only 3 builds that are actually homes not businesses or contractor sites. I have announced to the designers and the company I am getting the containers from....that next year is the date I start with my build. Told my mom (you know mom's need to know these things) and my real estate broker that I am selling my current house to do this. Right now I am getting my design officially done for a building permit. and am searching for land.
So I am hear to look at other ideas thoughts and or what I may have not found to make my build as smoothly as possible.

I have started the documentation of my shipping container home. This is the first video.
Your very first step toward designing the foundation of your house, is to have a soil testing performed on the site. In this instance, Nutting Engineers of Florida performed the soil boring. Terrence Lovett is here. He will explain what soil boring is and why you need it. www.nuttingengineers.com
A few more pics. The 3 Upper containers will cover the inside area to create covered parking.
